Piercings and Tattoos

I like Piercings and tattoos. If you know me you will know this. I like piercings for a couple of reasons, one is that I get a massive rush from getting one. I don't expect anybody to appreciate that or understand it, but it is what happens. The other thing is generally I like the way they look. Which is obviously a matter of opinion. Tattoos I like for a couple of reasons too. I enjoy the way they look (generally) and I like the different reasons people have for what they have. Sometimes it is something they like, or something that means something to them. Sometimes it is because they passed out drunk in front of their trainee tattooist friend who decided they needed some ink... And I also like the artistic side of tattoos. I am not a very artistic person. In fact I would be hard pushed to draw a stick man in a proper way... But I do love good art. And I love good tattoos because they are as much works of art as anything else. The fact they are on skin is irrelevant.

I have ten Piercings so far and one tattoo. The piercings (for those who care) are one in my left nipple, one in my lower lip, three in my right ear and five in my left ear. There will no doubt be more when I have good enough reasons to get more. I have one tattoo so far. It is a pin-up girl on my left thigh. I have a few different tattoos that I want and this one came up first for a couple of reasons. I have never had a huge amount of disposable income to buy one but recently my friend Lori (who tattooed my friend Luke in a previous blog post) has started an apprenticeship and wanted someone to practice on (who wouldn't need to pay!). She drew this design for me over almost two years ago, before she started her apprenticeship so I was happy to let her start with me. The other reason is that I was moderately nervous about having someone put ink on my body and wanted to be sure that they could do it well, and I have seen Lori's work on Luke before so was happy with that.

As I stand I am looking to get more tattoos. I know Lori will do at least one more for me, then I will probably go to other artists who specialise in the things I want to make sure they come out well. I am going to have them for a while after all!

The thing about Piercings and tattoos, and beards and cloths come to think about it is that people can judge you for them. They really can. And that upsets me. I don't like people who are ageist or racist or any kind of "ist" really and discriminating due to body-mods is just as bad as anything else. There is no need. I understand that not everyone enjoys the way I look and that's fine, but don't discriminate because of it. I don't pick on you for shaving and not having Piercings do I? Grow up for goodness sake!
